During the Nineteen Eighties, all Spartan teams competed in Division III (non-scholarship) after which Division II of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, and all teams have competed in Division 1 since Fall 1991. Between 1982 and 1987 the Men’s Soccer staff gained the NCAA Division III national championship title every year aside from 1984. Today UNCG competes within the Southern Conference, which is made up of 10 colleges across 5 states in the Southeast.
